BUYING ONLINE FROM ARGOS

 We sell online using ABEBooks.COM and Amazon.COM.  What follows are some tips to help you search or browse for any of the books that Argos has listed for sale online.

 All the  books we have listed for sale online are also available for purchase and view  in the store.  You do not have to buy them online if you would prefer to buy them here at Argos.  Also note that our online inventory is only a very small percentage of our total store inventory.

 Jim recommends searching our inventory on ABEBooks rather than on Amazon.  We have twice as many books listed on ABE then we do on Amazon, this is partly because Amazon’s system is not as good for listing rare and vintage titles, and because ABE’s search system is easier to use.

"HOW TO" for ABEBooks:

1. Look on our “Products”  page for the “ABE Books” and click “ABE HERE”.  This will take you to the Argos’ “ABE” Home Page. 

2.  You will see a brief description of our store and four search options- Author, Title, Keyword, and ISBN Number. You may search now by using any of these options, however I recommend that you click on “MORE SEARCH OPTIONS”

3.  This link is printed in red just under “SEARCH”.

4.  Now you have many more options! You may search by price range, by publisher, or you can specify whether you want to see only First Editions, only  hardcovers or only softcovers.

5.  You do not have to type the entire title to use “SEARCH BY TITLE“. For instance to find “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court”, surely just “Connecticut Yankee” will suffice.

6. Vintage books are not usually searchable by ISBN Number, it’s better to use author, or title, but if you only know the ISBN number don’t hesitate to try it.

7. Keyword searches can very helpful. For instance if you are looking for of our books about Grand Rapids just type in “Grand Rapids” in the “SEARCH BY KEYWORD”.

 If you want Yearbooks, do the same with Yearbooks. Or get even more specific “Calvin Yearbooks” or “Grand Rapids Yearbooks“.   Other Keyword that are useful are Michigan, Science, Religion, Christianity, Music, Furniture, Art, Military, Children’s, or “Easton Press”

There is another fascinating option available to you as well ...  You may “Browse” our entire On-line inventory. Unlike “Search” this shows everything we‘ve listed on ABE.

Browse by  clicking on “FIND BOOK” without filling out any of the search boxes.  But before clicking on “FIND BOOK”, decide whether you would like to view our inventory as displayed by lowest price to highest price (default), Highest price to lowest price, Author A-Z, Title A-Z, or newest listings first.

ACCESSING AMAZON:

To search our Amazon.com listings, referred to as our Amazon.com Z-Shop, click on the Amazon “HERE” tab on the products page.

 Our Z shop name is argosbookshopamazon.

 We have some books that are listed on Amazon and not Abe. These tend to recent fiction paperbacks, not our vintage books.
